Terms and Conditions

Terms and Conditions to the Appliance Repair Agreement.

Last Updated: August 1, 2026

1. Acceptance of Terms

By scheduling a service appointment, requesting a diagnostic visit, or authorizing repair work, the customer agrees to the terms outlined below. These terms apply to all services provided by MetroFix Appliance Repair and form part of the service agreement between the customer and the company.

2. Scope of Services

MetroFix Appliance Repair provides diagnostic, repair, maintenance, and installation services for residential household appliances. Services may include, but are not limited to:

  • Refrigerator repair
  • Washer repair
  • Dryer repair
  • Dishwasher repair
  • Oven and stove repair
  • Microwave repair
  • Rangehood repair
  • Appliance installation

All services are performed based on the symptoms reported by the customer and the technician’s diagnosis at the time of inspection.

3. Service Call / Diagnostic Fee

A service call fee of $79 plus applicable taxes (13% HST) is charged for the technician’s visit to the customer’s location and includes basic inspection and diagnostic evaluation of one appliance.

Important conditions:

  • The fee covers technician travel and time.
  • The fee is waived where the customer approves the quoted repair, and is not added to the approved repair price.
  • Where the customer does not proceed with the quoted repair, the fee is payable.
  • Each appliance requires a separate diagnostic assessment.

4. Fixed Repair Quote and Authorization

After diagnosing the appliance, MetroFix will provide a written fixed repair quote identifying the authorised parts, labour, taxes and total price.

Key conditions:

  • Repairs will only proceed after the customer approves the quote in writing.
  • Estimates are based on the information available during inspection.
  • Additional problems may be discovered during the repair process.
  • MetroFix will not exceed the approved fixed price unless additional or different work is identified and the customer expressly approves a revised price in writing before that additional work is performed.
  • A declined quote remains valid for seven days. After that period the customer must book a new appointment and a further service call fee applies.

5. Parts and Repairs

Replacement parts may be required to complete certain repairs.

Important conditions:

  • Some parts may need to be ordered and may require a deposit.
  • Delivery times for parts depend on manufacturer availability.
  • MetroFix is not responsible for delays caused by supplier shortages or shipping issues.
  • Old or replaced parts may be discarded unless the customer requests to keep them at the time of service.

6. Payment Terms

Payment terms are set out in the signed repair agreement. Depending on the job, the parts and the appliance, MetroFix may require 50% of the total on signing with the balance on completion, or payment in full on signing. The applicable terms are explained to the customer and recorded in the agreement before any charge is made.

Accepted payment methods may include:

  • Credit or debit cards
  • Electronic transfers
  • Cash

MetroFix reserves the right to charge deposits for special-order parts or large repairs. Late payments may incur administrative or interest charges where permitted by law.

7. Appointments, Cancellations and Rescheduling

Customers are expected to provide access to the appliance at the scheduled service time. The following conditions apply:

  • If the technician arrives and cannot access the appliance, an attendance charge of $79 plus applicable taxes (13% HST) applies. Because no diagnosis takes place, this is an attendance charge rather than a diagnostic fee.
  • If the appliance issue cannot be reproduced during the visit, the diagnostic fee remains applicable.
  • No charge applies where an appointment is cancelled or rescheduled before a technician has been dispatched toward the service location.
  • Once a technician has been dispatched toward the service location, a late-cancellation attendance charge of $79 plus applicable taxes (13% HST) may apply.
  • Rescheduling is free, provided the appointment is moved to a date within 7 days of the original appointment.
  • A previously rescheduled appointment may be rescheduled again, or cancelled, under the same rules as any other appointment. Rescheduling does not by itself make any charge payable.

Full details are set out in our Cancellation Policy.

8. Warranty on Repairs

MetroFix provides a 90-day parts and labour warranty on every completed repair. The warranty period begins on the date the repair service is completed.

Warranty coverage includes:

  • The specific component repaired or replaced
  • Labour associated with that repair

Warranty does not cover:

  • physical damage to the appliance
  • any new or additional fault that was not part of the original problem or the parts replaced
  • unrelated appliance failures
  • misuse or improper operation
  • lack of maintenance
  • electrical or plumbing issues outside the appliance
  • damage caused by third-party repair attempts

Warranty claims must be reported within the 90-day warranty period. Full details are set out in our Refund and Warranty Policy.

9. Consumers and Commercial Customers

The statutory consumer rights described in these Terms apply where the customer qualifies as a consumer under the Consumer Protection Act, 2002 (Ontario) — broadly, an individual acting for personal, family or household purposes. Commercial and business-purpose transactions are governed by these contractual terms and other applicable law.

MetroFix’s 90-day parts and labour warranty is offered to all customers, consumer and commercial alike, as a contractual commitment.

10. Customer Responsibilities

Customers agree to provide:

  • Safe and clear access to the appliance
  • Accurate information about appliance symptoms
  • A suitable working environment for the technician

MetroFix is not responsible for damage caused by pre-existing conditions such as defective wiring, improper installation, plumbing issues or structural problems.

10. Technician Safety and Right to Refuse Service

Technicians may refuse or discontinue service if working conditions are considered unsafe, including situations involving:

  • hazardous environments
  • aggressive animals
  • unsafe electrical conditions
  • unsanitary conditions
  • inaccessible appliances

In such cases, the diagnostic fee may still apply.

11. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, MetroFix Appliance Repair shall not be responsible for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages resulting from appliance malfunction or repair services. Examples may include:

  • loss of food
  • loss of business or income
  • property damage unrelated to the repair performed

MetroFix’s maximum liability for any service claim shall not exceed the amount paid for the specific repair service. Nothing in these terms limits any right the customer has that cannot be excluded under the Consumer Protection Act, 2002 or other applicable law.

12. Website Use

Information on the MetroFix website is provided for general informational purposes only. The company does not guarantee:

  • uninterrupted website availability

Unauthorized copying or use of website content may violate intellectual property laws.

13. Privacy

MetroFix collects limited customer information necessary to schedule appointments and perform services. Personal information may include name, phone number, service address and appliance details.

Customer information is handled in accordance with applicable Canadian privacy laws and is not sold to third parties. See our Privacy Policy for full details.

14. Governing Law

These Terms and Conditions are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the applicable federal laws of Canada. Any disputes arising from services provided by MetroFix Appliance Repair shall be subject to the jurisdiction of the courts located in Ontario.

15. Changes to Terms

MetroFix reserves the right to modify these Terms and Conditions at any time. Updated terms will be posted on the company website with a revised “Last Updated” date and will apply to future service bookings.
