Refund and Warranty Policies

Last Updated: August 1, 2026

This Warranty and Refund Policy explains the terms under which MetroFix Appliance Repair provides repair warranties and handles refunds related to appliance repair services.

These terms apply to all services performed by MetroFix and are intended to comply with applicable consumer standards under the Consumer Protection Act, 2002.

1. Repair Warranty

MetroFix Appliance Repair provides a 90-day parts and labour warranty on every repair completed by our technicians.

The warranty covers:

  • The specific part that was replaced or repaired
  • Labour associated with that repair

The warranty period begins on the date the repair service is completed.

Warranty service is limited to correcting the same issue directly related to the original repair. It does not extend to physical damage, or to any new or additional fault that was not part of the original problem or the parts replaced.

2. Warranty Eligibility

To qualify for warranty service, the following conditions must be met:

  • The appliance must remain at the original service address.
  • The appliance must not be serviced or altered by another repair provider after MetroFix performs the repair.
  • The issue reported must be directly related to the component repaired or replaced by MetroFix.

MetroFix reserves the right to inspect the appliance before approving warranty service.

3. Warranty Exclusions

The repair warranty does not apply in the following situations:

  • Physical damage to the appliance
  • Any new or additional fault that was not part of the original problem or the parts replaced by MetroFix
  • Damage caused by misuse or improper operation
  • Lack of regular appliance maintenance
  • Electrical or plumbing problems unrelated to the appliance repair
  • Damage caused by power surges or external electrical issues
  • Environmental damage such as water, fire or flooding
  • Repairs attempted or performed by a third party after MetroFix service
  • Failure of unrelated appliance components
  • Commercial or industrial appliance use

Replacement parts may also carry manufacturer warranties that are separate from MetroFix’s labour warranty.

4. Warranty Service Process

If a customer believes a repair is covered under warranty:

  • The customer must contact MetroFix within the 90-day warranty period.
  • A technician may be scheduled to inspect the appliance.
  • If the issue is confirmed to be related to the original repair, MetroFix will perform the necessary corrective work at no additional parts or labour charge.

If the issue is unrelated to the original repair, a standard service call fee may apply.

5. Diagnostic and Service Call Fees

Our service call fee is $79 plus applicable taxes (13% HST). It covers:

  • technician travel time
  • inspection and troubleshooting
  • identifying the cause of the appliance issue

This fee is non-refundable once the technician arrives at the service location, regardless of whether the customer chooses to proceed with the repair. Cancellation and rescheduling terms are set out in our Cancellation Policy.

6. Refund Policy

Due to the nature of repair services, refunds are generally limited once services have been completed.

Refunds may only be considered in the following situations:

  • The service was charged but not performed
  • A billing error occurred
  • A duplicate payment was processed

Any approved refund will be issued using the original payment method where possible.

7. Non-Refundable Services

The following items are typically non-refundable:

  • Service call or diagnostic fees after technician arrival
  • Completed labour services
  • Special-order parts once ordered
  • Repairs completed with customer approval

8. Parts Deposits

In some cases, a deposit may be required to order replacement parts.

Deposits may be non-refundable if:

  • the part has already been ordered
  • the supplier does not accept returns
  • the customer cancels after the part has been shipped or received

9. Appliance Beyond Economical Repair

If an appliance is determined to be beyond economical repair, the technician will advise the customer accordingly.

In such cases:

  • the service call fee remains applicable
  • the customer is under no obligation to proceed with repairs
