There is water on the floor and the washer checks out fine. On a steam model the dryer has its own inlet valve, hose and steam nozzle. Any of the three can leak, and because nobody expects a dryer to be plumbed, the washer usually gets blamed and sometimes gets replaced.

The steam and refresh cycles do nothing. Steam inlet valve, the nozzle blocked with scale, or the control that opens it. Toronto water is hard enough that scale is a genuine cause here rather than a sales line, and the drying side of the machine carries on working perfectly while steam is dead.

It tumbles but produces no heat. Heating element, thermal fuse or the high-limit thermostat. The part that matters is why: a thermal fuse blows because airflow was restricted, never on its own. Replacing it without clearing the vent means it blows again, so the duct is checked as part of the job.

There is a rumble or squeal that keeps getting worse. Drum rollers, the idler pulley or the belt. Caught early it is routine; run long enough, a snapped belt can damage the drum bearing.
