It is loud on high but barely extracting. Often make-up air rather than a fault. In a tightly sealed home a high-output hood creates negative pressure it cannot overcome, and the motor works hard while moving very little. Cracking a nearby window and re-testing takes a minute and tells us a great deal.

Extraction has faded gradually over a year or two. Filters first — Electrolux mesh filters go in the dishwasher and many have never been washed. After that, grease built up on the blower wheel, which adds weight and kills efficiency long before the motor complains.

The hood is correctly sized on paper but never clears the cooktop. Mounting height and width matter more than rated airflow. A hood set too high, or narrower than the range beneath it, cannot capture what escapes the sides. We will tell you plainly if that is what you have, because no repair fixes a capture problem.

Only some speeds work, or the controls have gone unresponsive. Speed control or the touch panel. Heat and steam rising onto the underside of a hood are hard on both, and a panel that needs a firm press today will be dead within months.

The blower has become loud or vibrates. Motor bearings or an unbalanced impeller. On island units this is worth catching early, because access gets more involved the longer it is left.

The lighting has stopped. Lamps, the driver, or the switching. Most Electrolux hoods use integrated lighting rather than a socketed bulb, so it is a component replacement rather than something to swap yourself.
