On a Countertop Microwave We Will Usually Tell You Not to Bother
Worth saying before you book anything. A countertop microwave that cost under two hundred dollars is not worth a service call plus a magnetron, and we would rather tell you that on the phone than take the visit fee to arrive at the same conclusion.
An over-the-range unit is a different calculation entirely, because it is mounted, ducted and doing your kitchen’s extraction.
Common Hisense Microwave Faults We Repair
It runs but the food comes out cold. Magnetron, high-voltage diode or capacitor. The circuit holds a dangerous charge even unplugged, which is genuinely why this is not a do-it-yourself repair. On a countertop unit this is usually the point where replacement wins.
It is completely dead. Very often the line fuse, and the fuse rarely fails alone — a door switch closing out of sequence shorts the circuit and takes it with it. Replacing only the fuse guarantees a return visit, so the switches get tested at the same time.
It starts then immediately stops. The interlock switches. Several of them forming a safety chain, and the appliance is designed to refuse to run if one has failed. That is correct behaviour, not something to bypass.
The vent fan will not run on an over-the-range model. On those the microwave is also your range hood, so this is a ventilation fault as much as a microwave one. Usually the fan motor, the thermostat sensing heat from below, or the board.
It sparks or arcs inside. Stop using it. Normally the waveguide cover has failed or the cavity coating has worn through. Both are repairable, but running it in that state destroys the magnetron.
The turntable will not turn. Usually the coupler under the tray rather than the motor beneath it — the least expensive part in the appliance and worth fixing on any unit.

If yours is over the range, the filters underneath are worth washing regularly. Grease drawn through the appliance is what eventually kills the control panel and the fan motor, and it is the cheapest maintenance in the kitchen.
Check the manufacturer warranty before you book us. If your Hisense is still inside its coverage, the manufacturer should be handling the repair and you should not be paying anyone. Find the model and serial number on the sticker — inside the door on a fridge, on the back or the door frame on laundry — and check the date. We will tell you if we think a claim is the better route.
