Extraction has weakened. Blower motor losing power, a duct run that has partly blocked, or filters past the point where cleaning helps. Airflow gets measured before anyone condemns a motor, because the motor is the expensive answer and often the wrong one.

It has become noisy or it vibrates. Worn motor bearing or an impeller out of balance. Worth catching early — a vibrating blower works its own mounting loose over time.

The controls have stopped responding. Miele hood boards run fan speed and lighting together, so a hood that will not change speed and has also lost its lights is usually one fault rather than two.

Con@ctivity has stopped working. On models that talk to the cooktop and adjust themselves, losing that link leaves the hood working manually but no longer responding on its own. Most owners notice it as the hood simply never coming on.

The lights are out. Lamps, transformer or the board — worth diagnosing rather than buying bulbs repeatedly.

It runs constantly or will not switch off. Control board or switch. Book it rather than living with it; a blower running unattended just wears out sooner.
