The self-clean cycle runs but the oven still looks dirty. This is the most common Whirlpool oven complaint and usually not a fault at all. Many Whirlpool ranges use AquaLift, a low-temperature steam clean that loosens residue for wiping rather than burning it away like a traditional pyrolytic cycle. It is doing what it was designed to do — it is just not what most owners expect. We will tell you that rather than sell you a repair.

The oven is not reaching temperature or bakes unevenly. Bake element, the igniter on a gas oven, or a temperature sensor drifting out of true. A sensor ten degrees off never announces itself; it just spoils baking quietly until someone measures the cavity.

A surface element will not heat, or only works on high. The element itself or the infinite switch behind the knob. An element that has only two states — off and full — is pointing at the switch rather than the element.

A gas burner clicks but will not light. Igniter electrode, a blocked port, or the spark module. One module fires every electrode at once, so a single wet or cracked igniter makes the whole cooktop click.

The door will not close flush and heat is escaping. Hinges or the door gasket. A door sitting a few millimetres proud makes the oven miss temperature and run long, and it is one of the cheaper faults on this list.

The display is dead or the touch panel misreads. Membrane or control board. Worth diagnosing rather than power-cycling repeatedly, because an intermittent board only gets worse.
