The fridge is warm but the freezer is still cold. The classic Whirlpool pattern, and usually the evaporator fan or a defrost fault. Cold air is made in the freezer and moved to the fridge, so when that transfer stops the freezer stays fine while the fridge slowly warms. It rarely means the sealed system.

Frost is building on the back wall of the freezer. Defrost heater, defrost thermostat, or the adaptive defrost control board that decides when to run a defrost cycle. Ice returning within weeks of a manual defrost points squarely at that circuit.

Water and ice have slowed to a trickle. Before anything else, check the filter. Whirlpool’s everydrop filters restrict flow badly once they are past their service life, and a great many low-flow calls are solved by a filter rather than a repair. If a fresh filter does not fix it, the inlet valve is next.

The in-door ice maker has frozen up. On models with ice storage in the door, warm air reaching the compartment refreezes and jams the assembly. Clearing it buys a few weeks; fixing the seal or the air path is what stops it recurring.

Water is pooling under the crisper or on the floor. Almost always a blocked defrost drain, and a straightforward clear. Worth doing before it finds the flooring.

It runs constantly and never cycles off. Dusty condenser, a failing condenser fan, or a door seal letting warm air in. Book it early — a compressor that never rests wears out years ahead of schedule.
