Extraction has gone weak while the fan still sounds normal. Usually filters that are past saturation, sometimes ductwork, occasionally a blower losing speed. The tell is steam and smell lingering in the room at a setting that used to clear it in seconds.

The downdraft will not rise or lower. Gaggenau’s table ventilation lifts out of the counter beside the cooktop, and that lifting mechanism is a motor, a drive and a set of position switches. It switches itself on, or will not switch off. Usually a sensor or a stuck control rather than a fault with the fan. Some models run on automatically in response to heat and humidity, and a drifting sensor makes that behaviour look like a mind of its own.
