It walks, bangs or shakes hard on spin. Bosch compact machines spin faster than full-size ones — often well past 1,200 rpm — because a smaller drum needs more speed to extract the same water. That makes them far less forgiving of worn shock absorbers, an unlevel floor, or a small load thrown to one side.

It has never spun properly since it was installed. Check the transport bolts. Bosch ships these machines with bolts through the back panel that lock the drum for shipping, and they must come out before first use. We still find them in place on machines that have been running for years, and the damage accumulates.

It will not drain. The pump filter behind the small flap at the bottom front. Coins, buttons and hairpins collect there and Bosch expects periodic clearing — most owners were never told it exists. If it is clear, the pump or the pressure sensor is next.

The door will not unlock at the end of a cycle. Door lock assembly. It is a cheap part and one of the most disruptive failures, because your laundry is sealed inside a machine that will not open.

There is a deep rumbling that rises with spin speed. Drum bearings. This is the one Bosch fault where we will give you an honest opinion rather than a quote — on a compact machine the bearing job is labour-heavy, and on an older unit it is often not worth doing.

Cycles have become extremely long. Usually the machine re-attempting a balance it cannot achieve, or a heater fault meaning it never reaches temperature. Both are diagnosable in one visit.
