A Maytag Washer That Will Not Spin Is Rarely the Motor
Maytag laundry is built heavier than most of what shares its price bracket, and the heavy parts — the motor, the basket, the transmission — very rarely fail. What fails is the small stuff around them, and that is a cheap, same-visit repair.

It agitates and drains but will not spin. On the direct-drive top-loaders this is normally the shifter actuator, the small assembly that moves the machine between wash and spin.
