The fridge is warm but the freezer is still cold. Evaporator fan or a defrost fault. On a top-freezer, cold air is made above and blown down, so when that transfer stops the freezer carries on unaffected while the fridge slowly warms.

Ice is building up on the freezer back wall. Defrost heater, defrost thermostat, or the defrost timer. On the mechanical-timer models this is one of the cheapest parts in any refrigerator and among the most common failures — you can often hear it clicking round if you listen at the control housing.

The door seal has gone slack and the door drifts open. The most overlooked fault on a simple fridge. A gasket that no longer grips makes the compressor run far longer than it should, which raises the power bill and shortens the appliance’s life long before it stops cooling.

It runs constantly and never cycles off. Condenser coils thick with dust, a failing condenser fan, or the seal above. On a fridge that has never had its coils cleaned, that alone can be the whole repair.

Water is pooling under the crisper. Blocked defrost drain, and a straightforward clear. Worth doing before it works out onto the floor.

Nothing is cold and the compressor is silent or clicking. Start relay or overload protector before the compressor itself. The relay is inexpensive, fails far more often, and replacing one when the other is at fault is a common and avoidable mistake.
