Water is standing in the drum. Drain pump or something jamming it. Coins, hairpins and underwire get past the basket and stall the impeller — we clear and test before condemning the pump.
The SmartDispense reservoir is not dosing, or clothes come out with detergent residue. On models with the bulk dispenser there is a pump and a set of lines that can clog with thickened detergent, particularly if it has been sitting. It reads as a wash fault and is actually a dispensing one.
It bangs or walks across the floor on spin. Suspension rods on a top-loader, shocks or bearings on a front-loader. Rods are a straightforward job; a bearing on an older machine is where we will give you an honest opinion rather than a quote.
The washer smells even though it looks clean. GE’s UltraFresh vent and OdorBlock gasket are designed to stop exactly this, so persistent odour usually means the vent is blocked or the gasket fold needs cleaning by hand rather than that the feature has failed.
It will not start at all. Lid lock, the main board, or power at the outlet. We check the free causes first — a fair number of no-start calls are a tripped breaker.
