It sparks or arcs inside the cavity. Stop using it. Normally the waveguide cover has failed or the cavity paint has worn through, and both are repairable — but running it in that state damages the magnetron and turns a small job into a large one.
The door will not latch, or it starts and immediately stops. The interlock switches. There are several, they are a safety system, and if one has failed the appliance is designed to refuse to run. That is the appliance working correctly, not a fault to be bypassed.
The turntable will not turn, or the fan runs constantly. Turntable motor for the first; on the over-the-range models the second is usually the vent fan control or a thermostat that has stopped resetting.
The touch panel is dead or responds to the wrong buttons. Membrane or control board. On a built-in this is worth fixing rather than living with, because there is no easy substitute sitting on the counter.
