A burner that will not light, or an induction zone that has gone dead, takes the kitchen out of service the moment you find it — normally with a pan already on the heat. On a JennAir the cause is nearly always one igniter, one coil or one board rather than anything structural.

A burner clicks but will not light. Igniter electrode, a blocked port, or the spark module driving it. On the pro-style ranges the burners run hot enough that spills bake onto the ports rather than wiping off, so a burner that has been getting steadily worse for months is usually telling you about a cleaning problem before an electrical one.
An induction zone will not recognise cookware, or cuts out under load. Coil, the cooling fan beneath it, or the power board. A zone that works from cold and drops out once things are hot points at cooling before anything else. Induction hardware is model-specific and there is no generic substitute for it.
A burner will not hold a low flame. Valve wear, and common on ranges that have done years of real cooking. Replacing a valve ends with a gas-tightness check, which is not a step anyone should skip.
The downdraft will not rise, or rises and retracts. JennAir has been building downdraft cooking surfaces since 1961 and still does. When one stops working the fault is usually the lift motor, the drive or a position switch rather than the extraction itself — and it is repairable without touching the counter.
The oven below is not heating properly while the surface is fine. On a range these are two appliances sharing a cabinet. Bake or broil element, igniter on a gas oven, or a temperature sensor that has drifted. Worth diagnosing as its own fault rather than assuming the range has failed.
The controls or the display have stopped responding. Touch panel, control board, or on connected models the communication between them. A control fault can leave a zone stuck on as easily as stuck off, so it is worth attention rather than a workaround.
