Kenmore started as a Sears house brand in 1927 and stayed one for nearly a century, which is why so many GTA homes still have one. What almost nobody realises is that Sears never built any of them. Kenmore is a specification and a badge applied to appliances made by Whirlpool, LG, Frigidaire, GE, Samsung, Panasonic and others, and which one you own depends entirely on the model and the year.
The model number is the key, and it is on a sticker inside the door frame or around the opening. The first three digits identify the manufacturer: 110 and 106 are Whirlpool, 665 is a Whirlpool-built dishwasher, 795 and 796 are LG, and 253 is Frigidaire. Once we know that, your Kenmore stops being a mystery brand and becomes a machine we service every week.
It is also why parts are not a problem. A Whirlpool-built Kenmore takes Whirlpool parts, stocked locally and priced normally. The badge on the front changes nothing about what is inside, and there is no premium for it.
