An LG Dryer That Runs Without Heat Wastes a Full Cycle Every Time
A dryer that tumbles but never heats draws power for the whole cycle and hands back damp laundry. On an LG it is a small set of parts, and which set depends entirely on whether yours vents outside or is a ventless heat-pump model — so that is the first thing we establish.
Common LG Dryer Faults We Repair
It runs but there is no heat (vented models). Heating element, thermal fuse or thermostat. The part that matters is why: a thermal fuse blows because airflow was restricted, never on its own. Fitting a fuse without clearing the duct means it blows again, so we check the vent as part of the job.
Cycles have got much longer on a ventless model. On a heat-pump LG this is the condenser and its secondary filter clogging with fine lint. It is behind the plinth, most owners have never opened it, and cleaning it can restore a machine the owner had written off. Note that a heat-pump dryer is slower than a vented one by design — it is a gradual increase you are looking for, not absolute speed.
It shuts off after a few minutes claiming the load is dry. Moisture sensor. The bars in the drum read conductivity, and fabric-softener residue insulates them until the machine believes everything is dry within minutes. Often a clean rather than a part.
It reports a code and stops. LG dryer codes are specific — a thermistor fault, a motor fault, a clogged-duct warning — and they point us at a system before the panel comes off. Read it to us on the phone.
There is a squeal or rumble that is getting worse. Drum rollers, the idler pulley or the belt. Caught early it is routine; run long enough, a snapped belt can damage the drum bearing.
It will not start at all. Door switch, thermal fuse or the control board. The door switch is checked first because it is the most common and the least expensive.
