It fills and washes but will not spin, or reports UE. UE is an unbalanced-load code. Sometimes it is genuinely the load — a single duvet thrown to one side will do it — but a machine that reports it constantly is telling you about worn shock absorbers or a rotor position sensor rather than a bad habit.

It stops with OE and water still in the drum. OE is a drain fault. Nine times in ten it is the pump filter behind the small flap at the bottom front, which LG expects you to clear periodically and almost nobody has been told about. If the filter is clear, the pump or the drain hose is next.

The door will not unlock at the end of the cycle. Door lock assembly. Cheap part, very disruptive, and one of the most common LG calls we take — your laundry is shut inside a machine that will not open.

It is leaking from the front. Door gasket, and on a front-loader it is nearly always the lower section where water and detergent collect. Worth catching early: a gasket leak reaches the subfloor long before you see a puddle.

There is a deep rumble that rises with spin speed. Drum bearings. This is the one LG washer fault where we will give you an honest opinion rather than a quote — the part is not expensive but the labour is, and on an older machine the arithmetic sometimes favours replacement.

Clothes smell even though the machine looks clean. Residue in the gasket fold and the detergent drawer rather than a fault. LG’s tub-clean cycle helps, but the fold at the bottom of the gasket has to be wiped by hand.
