Common LG Rangehood Faults We Repair
Extraction has faded but the fan still sounds normal. Filters first — LG’s metal mesh filters go in the dishwasher and a great many have never been washed. If they are clean, look at the duct run before the blower.
Only some fan speeds work. Almost always the speed control or the switch rather than the motor. A blower that runs on high but not on low has not failed — the thing selecting the speed has.
The blower has become loud or is vibrating. Motor bearings, an unbalanced impeller, or grease built up on the fan wheel. A hood that has grown noticeably louder over a year has been telling you about this for months.
The controls have stopped responding. Touch panel or control board. Steam and heat rising directly onto the underside of a hood are hard on electronics, and a panel that needs a firm press today will be dead within months.
The lighting has stopped. Lamps, the driver, or the switching. On most LG hoods the lighting is integrated rather than a socketed bulb, so it is a component replacement rather than something to swap yourself.
It is recirculating and the kitchen still smells. Where there is no exterior duct, a charcoal filter is the only thing removing odour, and unlike the mesh filters it cannot be washed — it has to be replaced.

LG Rangehood Repair in the GTA: Filters First, Then the Duct
A range hood is the simplest appliance in an LG kitchen and the one most often replaced when it did not need to be. There is a motor, a fan wheel, a control, a lamp and some ducting — and every one of those is a part rather than a reason to buy a new hood.
Start with the filters, because they are free to check and they are the answer more often than anything else. Metal mesh filters go in the dishwasher. Charcoal filters, on installations that recirculate rather than vent outside, cannot be washed at all and need replacing roughly once a year.
If extraction is still weak with clean filters, the duct is usually more to blame than the fan. Flexible ducting that has been crushed behind a cabinet or run too far with too many bends will defeat a perfectly healthy blower, and replacing the motor changes nothing. We check the run before quoting a part.
Blower motors and impellers, filters, speed controls, touch panels and boards, lighting and drivers are all replaceable. We diagnose the fault, quote it in writing, and waive the diagnostic charge when you approve the work.
