Buying a brand with a small Canadian footprint is a reasonable decision that comes with one practical consequence, and it is not the one people expect. The engineering is not the issue — AEG is Electrolux’s premium European line and it is built properly. The issue is the supply chain behind it.

In practice that splits into two groups. Common wear items — pumps, door locks, hinges, seals, heating elements, thermostats — are frequently shared with Electrolux and available quickly. Brand-specific electronics and cosmetic parts are not, and those can take longer.

So the diagnostic on an AEG does two jobs: identify the fault, and establish whether the part is a days or a weeks proposition. You get both before you decide, which is the only fair way to handle it.

Have the model and PNC number ready. AEG appliances carry a PNC — a product number code — on the rating plate alongside the model. It identifies the exact build, and on a brand with limited Canadian distribution that is what lets us check part availability before you commit to anything.

The other thing worth weighing is that most AEG here is built in. A dishwasher or oven integrated into a fitted kitchen is not a like-for-like swap — replacing one usually means adapting cabinetry, because European aperture sizes rarely match what is on a Canadian showroom floor. That tends to move the arithmetic firmly towards repair.
