Failure to heat is the most commonly reported microwave fault, and AEG models are no exception. When the unit runs, the light comes on, and the turntable rotates but food stays cold, the fault is almost certainly a failed magnetron, a blown high-voltage diode, or a defective capacitor. These components work together to generate microwave energy, and a failure in any one of them stops the heating process entirely.

Door switch failures are a regular fault on AEG microwaves. Most AEG models have two or three door switches that form part of the safety system. When any one of them fails, the microwave will not operate, or in some cases may attempt to operate with the door open, which is a safety concern that needs immediate attention.

Turntable motor failure causes the rotating tray to stop spinning or spin unevenly. Without proper rotation, food heats inconsistently, and the core purpose of the appliance is compromised. Turntable motor replacement is a straightforward repair with an immediate improvement in cooking results.

Control board faults manifest as an unresponsive keypad, a display showing error codes, or a microwave that runs briefly and then stops. When individual buttons fail to register or the panel behaves unpredictably, the control board or the touchpad membrane is usually the source of the problem.

AEG combination microwave models, which also function as fan ovens or grills, can develop faults in either the microwave system or the oven element. Separating these faults requires careful diagnosis, as symptoms can overlap.
