Water is sitting in the bottom and will not drain. Drain pump, a clogged filter, or the hose kinked behind the cabinet. The filter is the first thing we check because it is the most common cause and the cheapest fix.

The machine has stopped and is reporting a leak. Samsung dishwashers have a leak sensor in the base pan that shuts the machine down and runs the pump continuously. That is the appliance protecting your floor, not a fault in itself — but something above it is leaking and needs finding.

One side of the rack is coming out dirty. On WaterWall models a bar of jets sweeps across the tub instead of a spinning arm, so when its drive or track sticks you get a clean zone and a dirty zone rather than an evenly poor wash. That pattern is diagnostic on its own.

Dishes are coming out wet. Heating element, thermostat, or on AutoRelease models the door mechanism that pops open at the end to vent steam. If the door has stopped opening by itself, that is the cause rather than the drying element.

It will not start when you press the button. Door latch switch, the control board, or power to the appliance. The latch is checked first — most common and least expensive.

There is water on the floor. Door seal, a hose connection or the pump housing. On a built-in unit a slow leak runs into cabinetry for weeks before it shows anywhere visible.
