It runs but nothing gets hot. The plate turns, the fan runs, the timer counts down, and the food is cold. Magnetron, high-voltage diode or capacitor. This is a sealed high-voltage circuit that holds a dangerous charge even unplugged — genuinely not a do-it-yourself repair.
The touch panel is dead or responds to the wrong button. The membrane behind the panel is the usual cause and it is a common Samsung failure. On a built-in unit this is worth fixing rather than living with, because there is no spare sitting on the counter.
It sparks or arcs inside. Stop using it. Normally the waveguide cover has failed or the cavity coating has worn through. Both are repairable, but running it in that state destroys the magnetron and turns a small job into a large one.
The vent fan runs constantly, or will not run at all. On over-the-range models the microwave is also your range hood, so this is a ventilation fault as much as a microwave one. Usually the fan motor, the thermostat sensing heat from the cooktop, or the control board.
It starts then immediately stops. The door interlock switches. There are several, they are a safety system, and if one has failed the appliance is designed to refuse to run. That is it working correctly, not something to bypass.
The turntable will not turn. Turntable motor or the coupler beneath the plate. One of the least expensive repairs on this list.
